Michael Douglas is of counsel in the Litigation Practice Group in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Michael is a senior legal advisor with extensive experience and responsiveness to some of the world’s largest organizations committed to their success.
Michael focuses primarily on complex, multiparty disputes, including mass torts and class actions. Michael is part of a national coordinating counsel team for clients in talc and asbestos litigation. He shares responsibility in developing and coordinating expert defense and trial strategy. He collaborates with local, regional and national counsel throughout the country to develop strategic decisions in all phases of litigation. Michael also has experience as counsel of record litigating individual and consumer class action cases involving claims brought under various state and federal laws, including the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). He has written and contributed at the federal district and appellate court level to the crafting of briefs opposing class certification, approving class action settlements, proposing protective orders and seeking summary judgment.
He has experience managing million-plus page document productions for major pharmaceutical, medical device and insurance companies. Michael also provides counsel in the production of millions of documents for a multidistrict litigation document depository.
