Mathew Eapen

Overview

Mathew Eapen is a partner in the Investment Funds Group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Mat’s practice focuses on advising private investment funds, particularly venture capital and growth equity funds, on all aspects of their business, including capital raising, structuring, and portfolio investment activities. He also represents private equity sponsors in strategic investments, joint ventures, fund restructurings, and other complex transactions.

Mat was previously a foreign affairs officer at the U.S. Department of State, where he focused on encouraging science and technology entrepreneurship. While in law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law.

Bain Capital and Piramal Enterprises Ltd. in the formation of their $630 million India-focused distressed-to-control fund platform, India Resurgence Fund.

Bain Capital Credit in its recapitalization of two legacy funds and the sale of assets into a new continuation fund.

Blue Owl Capital in connection with the establishment of Owl Rock First Lien Fund I, Owl Rock First Lien Fund II, Owl Rock Opportunistic Fund, and Owl Rock Diversified Lending.

General Catalyst in connection with the establishment of General Catalyst Health Assurance Fund II and General Catalyst Group XI — consisting of an "Ignition Fund," "Endurance Fund" and "Creation Fund" and certain fund investments.
