Brandon Hanley is a litigation associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on complex civil litigations in both federal and state courts nationwide. He represents clients across a wide array of subject areas, including contract disputes, earnout disputes, antitrust, securities, real estate and other matters. Brandon also advises clients on issues of corporate governance and M&A disputes, with a particular focus on start-ups and private portfolio companies.

Brandon’s advocacy skills show in both his written and in-person work product. From pre-complaint analysis to trial, Brandon advances his clients’ interests in every phase of the case, while prioritizing cost-efficient resolutions. Brandon frequently drafts complex dispositive motions, as well as numerous procedural, evidentiary and discovery motions. Brandon takes and defends witness depositions and prepares diligently for argument. His strong advocacy has led to results, as Brandon has helped secure victories, ranging from favorable settlements to complete dismissal of claims at the trial level.

Before joining Kirkland, Brandon served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Stuart Kyle Duncan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. This experience provided him with valuable insight into judicial decision-making, enabling him to focus on the principles that matter most to judges. That insight helps him litigate dispositive issues efficiently, while avoiding ancillary disputes that waste his clients’ time and resources.
