Overview

Brendan Head is a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. 

Brendan focuses his practice on counseling private equity funds and their portfolio companies, corporations and other business owners on structuring and negotiating complex business transactions including leveraged buyouts, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, controlling and non-controlling equity investments and recapitalizations. Brendan has led numerous transactions in a variety of industries with transaction sizes ranging from less than $100 million to more than $3 billion. Brendan also has significant experience representing private equity sponsors and senior management teams in connection with a broad range of employment and incentive equity arrangements. 

Brendan’s practice also includes representing parties in strategic transactions involving professional sports teams in the world’s major sports leagues including Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Brendan served as the co-regional office head, corporate and securities, and co-managing partner of the Chicago office at DLA Piper. His clients have included Arbor Investments, Wind Point Partners, Prairie Capital, Tower Arch Capital, Aldine Capital, Guggenheim Partners, Chicago Cubs and British Petroleum.

According to Chambers USA, Brendan “wins effusive praise from clients” who call him “fantastic.” He has also been recognized by The Legal 500 US for his private equity practice.
