Christian E. Huehns

Overview

Christian Huehns is an intellectual property partner in Kirkland’s Chicago office. His practice focuses on highly-technical litigation matters, including patent, trade secret, product liability and contractual disputes. Christian has represented large and small clients in complex disputes involving medical devices, telematics systems, manufacturing systems, building management systems, wireless communications, household appliances and off-road vehicles. He has represented clients in federal and state courts around the country, as well as at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Christian has experience in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit analysis and strategy, discovery and depositions, claim construction, summary judgment, trial and post-trial.

SharkNinja Operating LLC, et al. v. Dyson, Inc., et al. (D. Mass. 2023); Dyson, Inc. et al. v. SharkNinja, Inc. et al. (E.D. Tex. 2024); Certain Surface Cleaning Devices and Components Thereof (ITC 2024). Represented Dyson in four district court cases and one ITC case, collectively involving 22 patents and 14 inter partes review proceedings.

Snyders Heart Valve LLC v. St. Jude Medical SC, Inc. (E.D. Tex. 2016). Represented St. Jude in co-pending district court litigation and inter partes review proceedings involving patents relating to transcutaneous aortic valve replacement devices.

Johnson Controls Technology Co. v. Willow Technology Corp. (D. Del. 2021). Represented Willow in multiple district court litigations and inter partes review proceedings involving nine patents relating to digital twin software platform.

Polaris, Inc. Represented Polaris in multiple state courts in lawsuits involving product liability claims relating to engine design.

Represented leading telematics provider in patent suit relating to vehicle tracking and communications systems involving seven patents and nine inter partes review proceedings.

Represented large trucking companies in a multi-patent, multi-district litigation brought by non-practicing entity against multiple users of vehicle tracking technology.

Represented biotechnology company in patent suit relating to microfluidic rapid tests.
