Overview

Kevin Hynes is a litigation partner in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Kevin focuses on complex, high profile, and high risk mass tort and product liability disputes for clients in the consumer product, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. He is known for his ability to communicate difficult scientific and medical concepts in clear and comprehensible terms. Over the course of his career, Kevin has tried and won cases for clients in some of the most difficult jurisdictions in the United States.

Prior to joining Kirkland, he also served as national coordinating counsel in several matters, including for Johnson & Johnson in relation to its docket in which the company faced allegations that its talcum powder products cause cancer, as well as Dow Chemical Company’s wholly owned subsidiary Union Carbide in connection with its historic asbestos liability docket. In each matter, Kevin directs case work up and strategy at all stages of litigation, with a particular focus on developing and coordinating scientific and medical defenses. Given his extensive experience in this area, Kevin understands the risks posed to companies involved in such disputes and can efficiently and carefully guide his clients towards the best possible results.
