Aaron Katz, P.C.
Overview
Aaron Katz is a trial and investigations lawyer in Kirkland’s Boston office. He has served as trial counsel for publicly traded and privately owned companies, corporate executives and entrepreneurs in a diverse array of civil and criminal matters across the country. He has tried 13 cases in seven different federal districts, as well as several cases in state courts. His trial work has involved a broad array of industries and subject matters, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare technology, software, real estate, environmental contamination, securities and commodities, antitrust and data breaches. He has the rare distinction of having won complete defense verdicts against both the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Chambers USA calls Aaron “strategically creative, aggressive and extremely smart” and able to “take on any fight,” and Benchmark Litigation has ranked Aaron as a top False Claims Act litigator. In 2017 and 2018, several publications named Aaron one of the country’s top trial lawyers under age 40. A judge in the Southern District of New York recently called Aaron a “consummate professional” whose advocacy is “thoughtful” and “powerful.”
In addition to his trial work, Aaron represents clients in high-stakes government investigations and sensitive internal investigations. He also provides litigation-risk and compliance assessments to businesses, including private equity sponsors.
Aaron maintains a significant pro bono practice. For over 20 years, he has partnered with Bryan Stevenson’s organization, the Equal Justice Initiative, in representing death row inmates in Alabama. Aaron’s work in that area has been covered by The Atlantic. He also represents indigent federal criminal defendants as a member of the District of Massachusetts Criminal Justice Act panel.
Aaron has taught Trial Advocacy at Boston University School of Law since 2022.
