Overview

David Kopp is a capital markets associate in the Austin office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

Prior to joining Kirkland, David was an associate at Paul Hastings LLP from October 2024 to November 2025, where he focused on capital markets, public company and strategic transactions.

During his time at Paul Hastings, David represented issuers and underwriters in a broad range of equity and debt offerings, including initial public offerings, follow-on and secondary offerings, at-the-market programs, PIPE transactions, and registered and unregistered notes offerings. His experience includes advising on multibillion-dollar senior notes issuances, SPAC IPOs and de-SPAC business combinations, and complex cross-border and regulated-industry transactions.

David also advised public companies on corporate governance and periodic reporting matters and represented clients in connection with strategic M&A transactions, including asset sales and private company equity repurchases. In addition, he was actively involved in pro bono matters, including veterans’ benefits advocacy and the development of firm-sponsored legal assistance initiatives for service members and veterans.

Prior to entering private practice, David served as an active-duty officer in the United States Marine Corps from 2017 to 2021. During his service, he was a supply chain management officer, responsible for logistics planning, procurement, inventory management and operational support for mission-critical activities. In this role, David managed complex supply chains in high-tempo environments and coordinated cross-functional teams to ensure continuity of operations and compliance with organizational requirements.
