John B. Lawrence is an associate in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He represents domestic and international clients in energy-related transactions, with a particular emphasis on project development, strategic joint ventures and investments, commercial contracts, commodities trading transactions for upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), petrochemicals/chemicals, electric power, renewable energy and other energy and infrastructure projects on a worldwide basis.
Before attending law school, John served in the United States Army as an Armor Officer and paratrooper, attaining the rank of Captain in three years. During his military service, John deployed to Afghanistan as a Reconnaissance Platoon Leader in support of Operation Resolute Support to provide the Afghan National Army with training and consultation on a variety of security matters.
John is also an avid mountaineer and has completed various summits, including Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania, 19,341’), Aconcagua (Argentina, 22,837’) and Mount Elbrus (Russian Federation, 18,510’).
