Garrett Messerly is an associate and member of the Litigation Practice Group in the Salt Lake City office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he represents and advises clients in a variety of white collar and regulatory defense matters. Garrett also represents clients during workplace investigations for discrimination and fraud, and in trial for complex civil, commercial, or criminal matters. Garrett also conducts internal investigations on behalf of clients.
Garrett is an experienced trial attorney and litigator. Before joining the firm, Garrett served in the United States Air Force JAG Corps. During his years of service, Garrett distinguished himself as a premier litigator, prosecuting a variety of felony-level crimes in military justice and criminal cases. Garrett also oversaw and conducted numerous investigations. Following his time as a prosecutor, Garrett was selected to serve as a defense attorney at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he defended cadets, airmen, and officers in all military justice cases and adverse administrative actions. While stationed at the Academy, Garrett also guest lectured at the Academy's Department of Law.
