Commercial Litigation
Confidential Arbitration: Represented major U.S. airline in two-week arbitration involving $100 million contract dispute with regional airline.
Jury Trial: Represented Constellation Brands, Inc. in a breach of contract and trademark infringement action in the Southern District of New York brought by Modelo de Mexico, an Anheuser-Busch InBev company. After trial, the jury delivered a unanimous verdict for Constellation Brands on all counts.
Confidential Arbitration: Represented a hedge fund and the fund’s general partner in one-week arbitration involving contract dispute.
Representing a telemedicine company in a breach of contract dispute related to an acquisition.
Representing a major manufacturer of construction equipment in various commercial disputes with a distributor and related companies.
Congressional Investigations
Represented major health care companies in investigations by and hearings before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee.
Represented major U.S. financial services companies in investigations by and hearings before the House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
Represented a major energy infrastructure company in connection with Congressional investigations and hearings.
Pro Bono
Some of Michael’s recent pro bono representations include:
Ahmed v. DHS, case no. 4:23-CV-01892: Represented asylum seekers who came to the U.S. from Afghanistan as part of Operation Allies Welcome and sought to represent a class of similarly-situated individuals in connection with a lawsuit to compel the federal government to expedite the adjudication of their asylum applications. Obtained a settlement in which the federal government agreed to expedite the applications of plaintiffs and the putative class members.
Represented a young LGBTQ+ asylum seeker from Jamaica in a successful affirmative asylum application. Currently representing the client in connection with a naturalization application.
Represented a veteran survivor of military sexual trauma in a successful appeal of denial of service-connection by the VA Regional Office.
