John Reinert is a partner in the Investment Funds Practice Group in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

John’s practice focuses on the financial services and asset management industries. John represents fund sponsors as well as other private and public companies in connection with complex regulatory and compliance matters arising under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940—including with respect to the status, registration, and regulation of investment advisers under the Advisers Act, the examination of investment advisers by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the seeking of no-action relief and exemptive orders from the SEC, as well as the status of various investment vehicles, joint ventures, and other companies under the Investment Company Act. John regularly advises clients in connection with ongoing compliance matters and has significant experience advising clients with respect to complex financial services transactions involving real estate investment management platforms, initial public offerings of alternative asset managers, securitization and structured finance vehicles, as well as mergers and acquisitions involving registered investment advisers.
