Brett Saltzman is a partner in the Investment Funds Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP where he focuses his practice on advising private fund sponsors on all aspects of the investment management industry, including forming, marketing and managing investment vehicles, launching new business lines, establishing internal economic and governance arrangements at the sponsor level, and other operational, legal and regulatory issues at both the fund and sponsor level. Brett represents a wide range of sponsors, including publicly traded global asset managers, prominent middle-market sponsors and first-time fund sponsors, across various industry verticals, with a particular focus on real estate, other real assets and real estate credit. Brett has represented numerous global real estate and other private equity fund sponsors in establishing open-end and closed-end investment funds, vehicles and other accounts, including programmatic joint ventures, co-investment programs and club deals, with a broad range of investment strategies. In addition to capital formation, Brett has extensive experience advising sponsors in connection with GP-led transactions (continuation funds, recapitalizations, secondaries, etc.), asset management M&A, new platform establishment and co-GP arrangements, seed capital and anchor investor arrangements, crisis management and regulatory investigations. Private Funds Management ranked Brett in its "30 under 40" list, which recognizes the 30 most influential private funds lawyers under the age of 40. Brett was also recognized in 2022 by Law360 as a "Rising Star" in its list of Top Attorneys Under 40.
