Overview

Danielle Sartain is an associate in the Investment Funds Practice Group in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Danielle represents a broad range of asset managers and private fund sponsors with respect to a variety of legal, compliance and regulatory matters relating to their investment management businesses. Danielle regularly counsels clients on matters arising under the Investment Advisers Act, the Investment Company Act and related U.S. federal securities laws and regulations, including: adviser structuring, registration, governance and ongoing compliance with federal securities laws and SEC regulations; formation, offering and ongoing operation of private equity funds; government inquiries such as SEC examinations, investigations and enforcement actions; and investment company status issues in connection with capital markets and financing transactions. Danielle also advises clients on complex business transactions involving asset managers including mergers and acquisitions, adviser-led secondary transactions, GP minority sales and other strategic transactions.
