John W. Sheridan
Overview
John Sheridan is a corporate partner in the Bay Area offices of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on advising private equity firms and public and private companies on M&A and other corporate transactions, including domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, “going-private” transactions, divestitures and growth equity investments.
John also advises public companies and their boards of directors, as well as private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, on general corporate and governance matters.

John has advised several clients in their immigration proceedings, and has experience briefing and arguing before the Federal circuit, as well as the Executive Office of Immigration Review, including the following:
- Represented a woman from Iraq in her asylum claims and adjustment of status petition.
- Presented oral argument in the Ninth Circuit asserting constitutional challenge on behalf of an immigrant pursuant to her removal proceedings.*
- Represented a woman from Mexico in her asylum, withholding of removal and convention against torture claims.*
