Rhett is a corporate partner whose practice is primarily focused on counseling private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in structuring, negotiating and executing complex business transactions. He has handled domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, going-private transactions, joint ventures, carve-out transactions, corporate restructurings, recapitalizations, dividends and equity financings as well as general corporate matters. Rhett has experience in a wide variety of industries, including energy and infrastructure (including clean energy and energy transition), financial and business services, retail, consumer products, food and beverage, industrials, chemicals, manufacturing and logistics/transportation services.
Now based out of the Firm’s New York and Houston offices, Rhett was a founding partner of Kirkland’s Houston office in 2014. He has handled matters on behalf of private equity clients such as ArcLight Capital Partners, Ares Management, Apollo Global Management, The Blackstone Group, First Reserve Corporation, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Texas Pacific Group.
