Overview

Carolina Velarde is an antitrust and competition partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She has extensive experience in advocating and obtaining clearances for proposed mergers and acquisitions from the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division (“DOJ”), and the Federal Trade Commission. She has successfully represented clients through in-depth investigations, Second Requests and federal litigation. Carolina also assists clients navigating non-merger matters, including high-stakes agency conduct investigations and litigations.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Carolina was an associate in the DC office of a leading law firm where she practiced antitrust and competition. During law school, she was a student attorney in the Michigan Innocence Clinic, and helped secure a client’s full exoneration.
