Charlotte Wheeler
Overview
Charlotte Wheeler is a restructuring partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP.
Charlotte has experience advising large corporates, private equity sponsors, senior banks and credit funds on all aspects of banking and finance law across a broad range of financing transactions including debt restructuring, leveraged finance, corporate lending and receivables financings.
Charlotte has significant global transaction management, deal team management and cross-border execution experience.
Charlotte has also served on the board of a European manufacturing business as director of licensing and accessories, and as in-house counsel.

Representative Matters
Prior to joining Kirkland, Charlotte was involved in the following matters, advising:
- Lloyds Banking Group in relation to the successful full repayment of loans to the investment holding structure of the Barclay family (which owns the Telegraph newspaper, The Spectator and, among others, The Very Group).
- The security agent in relation to the >€1 billion financial restructuring of the Keter Group.
- The security agent in relation to the pre-pack sale and balance sheet restructuring of the Matalan group.
- The security agent in relation to the enforcement of security by senior lenders in respect of a molecular diagnostics company, Biocartis.
- The security agent in relation to the pre-pack sale and balance sheet restructuring of a UK satellite communications group, Avanti.
- The security agents in relation to the successful restructuring of the Carlson Wagonlit Travel group including the US Chapter 11 proceedings.
- The liquidity facility and swap providers on the restructuring of a £1 billion ground rent securitisation.
- The lenders on the restructuring of facilities provided to the UK's largest privately owned construction group.
- Cinven and Spire Healthcare on £700 million sale of property portfolio to a consortium of investors comprising Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund, affiliated investment funds of Och-Ziff Capital Management Group and Moor Park Capital.
- Samsonite Corporation and CVC Capital Partners in respect of the successful restructuring of the Samsonite Group and subsequent initial public offering on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
- Dinosol Supermercados Group in relation to its successful balance sheet restructuring that reduced the group's debt from €448 million to €125 million and made available a new €30 million liquidity facility.
- The Royal Bank of Scotland plc in relation to the administration of Halliwells LLP including negotiations with stakeholders and advice in relation to the cancellation of facilities, set-off issues and the winding up petition issued by a retired partner.
