Hermione Zhang is an intellectual property litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She represents leading technology and industrial companies in high-stakes trade secret, patent, copyright and trademark disputes, with a focus on protecting U.S. innovation and intellectual property. Her practice spans federal and state courts as well as administrative forums, where she develops and executes strategies to safeguard clients’ most critical technologies and competitive assets.
Hermione has experience across a broad range of technologies, including semiconductor chip design, computer networking, radio communication systems and HVAC systems. She is regularly called upon to investigate complex fact patterns, draft outcome-determinative motions, prepare expert reports, second-chair depositions and prepare witnesses for trials. Before joining Kirkland, she served as the inaugural judicial extern to the Honorable Loren L. AliKhan of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Hermione also maintains a strong pro bono practice dedicated to advancing justice, including successfully obtaining lawful permanent residence for an asylum applicant from the Gaza Strip and representing survivors of domestic violence in Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) matters.
Within the Firm, Hermione serves on the Los Angeles office’s Associates Committee and is active in Kirkland’s Asian Affinity Group and Women’s Affinity Group. Prior to law school, she worked as a documentary and film producer.
