Successful Restructurings - 2003

In Turnarounds & Workouts' annual survey of the bankruptcy industry, two Kirkland & Ellis partners were mentioned on the list of the top ten successful restructurings of 2003. Sharon M. Kopman, associate in the Los Angeles office, was lead attorney for the restructuring of DDi Corp. in which there was significant debt reduction and a restructured senior creditors facility.  Additionally, James H.M. Sprayregen, partner in the Chicago office, was lead attorney for the NRG Energy Chapter 11 and restructuring, in which $6 billion of debt was eliminated and creditors received cash, common stock, and $500 million of new corporate notes.
