Chambers' comments:
National Ranking: 1
The Firm: This firm's products liability and mass tort attorneys add luster to the legend of the practice's notoriously brilliant litigation capability. Generally retained on bet-the-company cases, its team displays the usual Kirkland hallmarks - "hard-headedness, coruscating intelligence and an unswerving will to win." It has involved itself in a diverse mix of prominent disputes of recent years including those referring to breast implants, cell phones, lead paint, tobacco and car seat belts. It has probably gained most publicity, though, in asbestos cases where David Bernick has gone a long way to shaping accepted strategies for coping with such matters. Always ready to litigate, this is "a group with a very impressive culture" that "guarantees, above all, professionalism." The firm represents leading companies across numerous industries including Dow Chemical and GM.
