2006 Deals of the Year
Investment Dealers’ Digest named the General Motors’ sale of 51% of its interest in General Motors Acceptance Corporation to an investor group led by Cerberus Capital Management as the “Overall Deal of the Year” of 2006. Stephen Fraidin, R. Scott Falk, Frederick Tanne and Jeffrey T. Sheffield along with a team of lawyers from Kirkland’s Corporate and Tax Practice Groups represented General Motors, the world’s largest industrial company, in the approximately $14 billion deal. The article noted: “What stands out above all, are [the deals’] intricacy, and the tenacity of the participants in getting it done.”
