America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2007: Investment Funds: Private Equity

Chambers & Partners has compiled their independent and objective list of America's Leading Lawyers for Business based on comments gathered from thousands of interviews with clients and lawyers from Maine to Hawaii. This guide -- which is designed to reflect market opinion -- contains a view of the firms and attorneys who are considered leaders in their field.

In Chambers' 2007 review of national legal talent in the area of "Investment Funds: Private Equity," our Firm and our lawyers are listed among the best in the country.

Chambers' comments:

New York Ranking: 3

The Firm: This firm is “clearly an excellent private equity deal practice” and “constantly a threat” on the fund formation side, competitors confide. With its largest office in Chicago, the firm’s progress in New York as a significant player is acknowledged and its quality clients are testament to this. Clients still look to the strength of the Chicago office as the driving force of the firm’s fund formation practice, although its buyouts prowess in New York has boosted its fund formation profile. The group has received many repeat instructions from loyal clients.

The Lawyers: Kirk Radke is valued for his all-around private equity ability as a lawyer who is experienced on both buyouts and fund formation. He is recommended for his work with limited partners.

Clients/Work Highlights: The group now acts for Court Square Capital I, following its spin-out from Citigroup Venture Capital, which currently manages a fund of $2.6 billion. It is also advising Court Square’s new private equity fund, Court Square Capital Partners II LP that recently held an initial closing on $1.7 billion. The group also acted for Avista Capital Partners on its first fund formation, expected to close at $2 billion.
