Chambers' comments:
Nationwide Ranking: Tier 3
Kirkland & Ellis has attained a great reputation for defending automakers in climate change-related litigation. The team has represented a number of them challenging California's legislation to cap car emissions, and has branched out from this to represent oil companies in nuisance cases. It is currently acting for one of the defendants in Native Village of Kivalina v ExxonMobil Corp et al. Stuart Drake is acclaimed for his defense of automobile companies in such cases, and he also represents such clients in agency rulemaking proceedings and federal and state enforcement actions. Entities from the appliance industry also engage the team in litigation relating to efficiency standards. Outside of litigation, the group has established a robust reputation for regulatory work.
