Chambers' comments:

London Ranking: Tier 4

The Firm: The Kirkland tax team works closely with the firm's corporate, fund formation and restructuring departments in order to provide a broad and sophisticated service. The London practice has enhanced its healthy reputation in all areas with some significant transactions. For example, the team was involved in the representation of Bain Capital and Advent International in the high-profile £2 billion acquisition of RBS Worldpay in a complex LBO. On the fund formation side, the group advises major clients in tax efficiency and infrastructure funds.

Key Individuals: European corporate tax head Ian Taplin is praised as a "high-quality practitioner" in private equity matters, including continental acquisitions and refinancings. Jane Scobie receives praise from peers for her thorough and hands-on approach to complex M&A and restructuring matters. She worked alongside Taplin in advising Bain Capital on issues concerning consortium structure during its acquisition of RBS Worldpay.
