Access to Justice Award 2011

Project FAIR honored Kirkland litigation associate Beverly Baker with a 2011 Access to Justice Award at the organization's 10th anniversary celebration. Project FAIR is a collaborative, New York City-based project working towards greater economic justice for low-income and homeless New Yorkers. The Access to Justice Award honors individuals who have made an outstanding contribution and commitment to the field of poverty law, particularly with respect to ensuring the rights of public benefits recipients through impact litigation or individual legal representation. Project FAIR recognized Ms. Baker for frequently serving as an advocate at the central fair hearing site, providing information and referrals to unrepresented benefits applicants and recipients. She also regularly provides pro bono assistance to low-income and homeless individuals in securing representation at administrative fair hearings.
