In The American Lawyer's inaugural Litigation Power Rankings, Kirkland & Ellis tied as the most decorated law firm in the history of the publication's biennial Litigation Department of the Year contest. The American Lawyer named Kirkland as one of the two firms that have fared the best since the Litigation Department of the Year contest began in 2002. Kirkland was the overall winner of Litigation Department of the Year in 2008, and a finalist in 2010, 2004 and 2002. The Firm received honorable mention in 2012. The Firm was also a finalist in the IP Litigation Department of the Year contest in 2008, 2006 and 2004.
