Law360 Pro Bono Firms of 2013
Law360 named Kirkland as a Pro Bono Firm of 2013, citing the Firm’s work on issues such as voting rights and same-sex marriage. The list recognizes 20 firms that showed a continuing commitment to providing free legal work and that won notable victories for clients between June 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013.
Last year, 1,099 Kirkland attorneys performed a total of 103,758 hours of pro bono work, for which they receive hour-for-hour credit. Fifty-nine percent of the Firm’s lawyers completed at least 20 hours of pro bono work, marking an all-time high for participation.
Law360 specifically highlighted Kirkland’s work to ensure medical benefits for same-sex domestic partners in Michigan, combat police brutality in Puerto Rico and challenge restrictive voter identification laws.
