Largest Chapter 11 Debtor Exits of 2014

Kirkland represented four of the 10 largest Chapter 11 debtors by liability to exit bankruptcy protection in 2014, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Kirkland was counsel in the Chapter 11 cases of Edison Mission Energy, with $5.09 billion of debt; WR Grace & Co., with $2.58 billion of debt; Sorenson Communications, with $1.40 billion of debt; and Cengage Learning, which was the largest Chapter 11 debtor by liabilities to exit bankruptcy court protection in 2014, with $6.47 billion of debt at the time of filing.
