ABA Death Penalty Representation Project Awards

The American Bar Association Death Penalty Representation Project honored Kirkland with its Pro Bono Award in recognition of the Firm’s “unwavering and inspirational commitment to justice.” Kirkland was selected as one of two firms that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and assistance to death-sentenced prisoners. Robert E. Lee, Executive Director, Virginia Capital Representation Resource Center said, “In more than 20 years of representing indigent death-sentenced inmates, I have never encountered a firm that has provided more sustained, high quality, and committed representation.” Kirkland has worked on death penalty cases in Alabama, Virginia, Florida and Texas. Litigation partner Thomas Yannucci accepted the award on Kirkland’s behalf at the ABA’s annual Volunteer Recognition & Awards event on September 10, 2015 in Washington, D.C.
