The Deal Awards 2020
The Deal honored Kirkland & Ellis with five awards at the annual Deal Awards.
Kirkland was named the inaugural “Activist Defense Law Firm of the Year” and was awarded the following four “Deal of the Year” awards.
- Most Innovative Deal of the Year: CBS Corp.’s merger with Viacom (Kirkland advised Centerview Partners LLC and Lazard Frères & Co. as financial advisors to the Special Committee of CBS Corp’s. Board of Directors)
- Healthcare, Pharma & Biotech Deal of the Year: AbbVie’s $63 billion acquisition of Allergan plc (Kirkland advised AbbVie).
- Private Equity Deal of the Year: Digicert’s sale to TA Associates and Clearlake Capital Group (Kirkland advised Thoma Bravo and portfolio company Digicert).
- Restructuring Deal of the Year: Sungard’s record-setting Chapter 11 (Kirkland advised Sungard).
The third annual awards program hosted by The Deal recognizes the advisors and service providers who power the deal economy. Honorees were selected based on peer nominations and interviews with analysts and experts. A full list of winners can be found here.
