"...activist investor Paul Singer, who runs New York-based hedge fund Elliott Management, prevailed in his months-long quest to force a sale of San Francisco-based Riverbed Technology Inc. Riverbed said it would sell itself for $3.6 billion in cash to Thoma Bravo, the private equity arm of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.

Kirkland & Ellis is advising longtime client Thoma Bravo on the deal. Corporate partners Corey Fox, Gerald Nowak and Bradley Reed are leading Kirkland's team."
