Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs

Daniel Laytin, Christa Cottrell, Anne Salomon, Ryan Kearney and Calen Bennett were recognized as runners-up for The American Lawyer Litigation Daily's "Litigator of the Week" for their work for Cinven and Master Builders Solutions.

A Kirkland & Ellis team led by Daniel Laytin secured dismissal with prejudice for private equity client Cinven Ltd. and its portfolio company Master Builders Solutions in multidistrict litigation alleging a global conspiracy to fix prices for concrete and cement additives. In a 68-page opinion last week, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman in Manhattan held that the plaintiffs failed to plausibly allege either a domestic conspiracy or a foreign conspiracy with sufficient effects on U.S. commerce, and dismissed the case with prejudice after finding further amendment would be futile. The ruling came after plaintiffs amended their complaint with the benefit of cooperation materials from a settling defendant. Laytin argued the motion to dismiss on behalf of all defendants. The Kirkland team included Christa Cottrell, Anne Salomon, Ryan Kearney and Calen Bennett."
