Bloomberg News: “Credit Edge”
H.T. Flanagan joined Bloomberg News’ “Credit Edge” podcast with James Crombie and David Havens to discuss trends shaping the private credit market, including the growing involvement of private investors in distressed companies. He also highlighted the innovative, higher-yielding structures attracting middle-market lenders and noted that these transactions are expected to become increasingly common.
“When you start playing with where your money is in a capital structure - I like to call it three-dimensional chess - as it’s not just you thinking about what the borrower might do. It's about you thinking about what every stakeholder in the capital structure might do,” Flanagan said.
Kirkland’s Private Credit Practice advises private credit funds, alternative capital providers and special situations investors as lenders in a wide range of credit transactions, including traditional acquisition financings, debt solutions for non-sponsored and public companies, and the full spectrum of hybrid capital products, as well as helping lenders navigate complex intercreditor dynamics. The Firm’s lender-side practice is primarily focused on private capital in non-designated transactions.
