Kirkland & Ellis LLP Contributes More Than $275,000 to Tsunami Relief Efforts

The Kirkland & Ellis LLP Foundation, its individual attorneys and staff are contributing more than $275,000 to help recovery efforts related to the Asian Earthquake/Tsunami crisis.

The majority of the money is earmarked for the Save the Children "Asia Earthquake/Tidal Wave Relief Fund."  This contribution supports the charitable organization’s around-the-clock push to rapidly expand lifesaving relief to reach children and families, providing them with shelter, food and clean water and access to medical care, including protecting vulnerable children from debilitating yet preventable diseases.

"To the best of our knowledge, Kirkland & Ellis' generous cash gift to Save the Children's tsunami efforts is the largest by any law firm,” said Lori Redmer, associate vice president of Global Corporate Partnerships at Save the Children.

"The people of south Asia have been badly wounded by this horrible disaster, and we want to move quickly and publicly to do our part for the healing effort," said Willard G. Fraumann, head of the Kirkland & Ellis LLP Foundation and a partner in the Firm's Chicago office.
