Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Henry Kleeman has joined the Firm as a partner in its corporate practice. Mr. Kleeman comes to Kirkland's Chicago office from Innovene Inc., one of the world's largest petrochemical companies.
Mr. Kleeman has more than 20 years experience as a corporate and securities lawyer. His practice focuses on public company legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and global compliance.
At Innovene, he held the position of senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
In October 2005, he managed the legal separation of Innovene from its parent company, bp p.l.c. The subsidiary was sold to Ineos Group Holdings for $9 billion in the largest leveraged transaction in Europe to date. Prior to Innovene, Mr. Kleeman served as vice president, deputy general counsel and global business practices officer at Sara Lee.
"We are delighted to welcome Henry to the Firm," said Kevin Evanich, a senior partner in the corporate practice in Chicago and a member of the Firm Management Committee. "He has great experience as general counsel and will be a wonderful asset to the Firm's practice."
"I am excited to be returning to law firm life," Mr. Kleeman said. "Kirkland's corporate practice has a remarkable reputation and I am looking forward to working with the best in my field."
Mr. Kleeman graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University and received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School.
