Kirkland & Ellis International LLP Expands European Tax Practice

Kirkland & Ellis International LLP is pleased to announce that Jane Scobie has joined the Firm's London office as a partner in the Tax Practice Group.

Ms. Scobie will be the third tax partner in Kirkland's London office and joins fellow partners Ian Taplin and John Baldry.

"We are delighted that Jane is joining us," says Ian Taplin, head of Kirkland's European Tax Practice Group. "Jane's private equity tax background fits in perfectly and she will provide additional strength to our European tax practice."

Ms. Scobie joins the Firm from the London office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she was a senior associate in the Corporate Tax Group. She brings with her a wide range of experience in the mergers and acquisitions tax field with a focus on private equity including investments, private and public company takeovers and corporate restructurings. Ms. Scobie's practice also includes employment taxation and other aspects of share incentive arrangements.

Kirkland's European tax practice comprises four partners and five associates, who cover all aspects of private equity including U.S. and European fund formations and transactional work. The practice has been recognized as one of the leading global tax groups in the private equity field.

Ms. Scobie earned a law degree from Exeter University in 1995 and graduated with distinction from Nottingham Law School in 1996. Prior to joining Weil Gotshal & Manges she worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Sidley Austin LLP.
