Kirkland & Ellis LLP Launches Banking and Financial Institutions Practice with Addition of Edwin del Hierro

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Edwin S. del Hierro has joined the Firm as a partner in its Chicago office. Mr. del Hierro will lead Kirkland's bank regulatory practice representing the Firm's clients in banking matters.

"Ed has built an outstanding practice representing marquee banks, financial institutions and other clients within the highly regulated banking and financial services sector," said Thomas D. Yannucci, chair of Kirkland's Firmwide Management Committee. "His experience adds a new dimension to our corporate practice and we are pleased to welcome him to the Firm."

Mr. del Hierro has more than 20 years of experience representing banks, investment banks and institutional lenders in connection with transactional aspects of financial services law, including counseling institutions in capital formation transactions, mergers and acquisitions and complex financings. He also has significant experience representing private equity and other investors in both control and non-control investments in financial institutions, and advises some of the largest banks in the United States in the design and development of capital-qualified debt and equity securities. Mr. del Hierro's representative clients include JPMorgan Chase and U.S. Bank, among others.

Mr. del Hierro, 47, joins Kirkland from the Chicago office of Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg where he was a member of the firm's management committee, the co-chair of the firm's corporate and securities group and one of the partners in charge of the firm's financial institutions group.

Mr. del Hierro was honored by Leading Lawyers Network Magazine as a "Leading Lawyer" in 2009. He has also been recognized by Law & Politics as an "Illinois Super Lawyer" and named  a leading lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. del Hierro earned a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and a B.B.A. from Loyola University.
