Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that Christian Atwood has joined the Firm as a corporate partner in its Boston office. Mr. Atwood joins Kirkland from Choate Hall & Stewart LLP where he was co-chair of the firm’s private equity group and a member of the firm’s executive committee.
“Christian is a gifted attorney whose long experience representing private equity funds makes him a natural fit for our platform,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “We expect Christian to be a key figure in, and to play a central role in the success of, our Boston office.”
Mr. Atwood’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and other strategically important transactions, with a particular focus on private equity funds and their portfolio companies. His recent work has involved targets in a wide array of industries, throughout the U.S. and in international markets, including health care, industrials, manufacturing, oilfield services, SaaS and other technology plays.
“We are thrilled to bring Christian on board. His experience advising sophisticated private equity funds and in-depth knowledge of the Boston market perfectly complements our existing practice,” said Jon A. Ballis, a corporate partner and member of the Firm’s Global Management Executive Committee.
“Christian is an exceptional talent, and one of the leading private equity attorneys in Boston. His leadership skills, management acumen and commercial awareness will be invaluable as we continue to build out our team here.”
