Nadine Gelli Joins Paris Office of Kirkland & Ellis

Kirkland & Ellis announced today that tax lawyer Nadine Gelli will join the Firm’s Paris office as a partner.

Ms. Gelli brings more than 20 years of experience in advising on all tax aspects of corporate transactions with a particular focus on leveraged buyouts, financing and restructuring projects. She also has experience in the field of employee share schemes and benefits.

“Nadine’s deep understanding of the French market coupled with her vast knowledge of local tax law will be a major asset to our growing Paris office,” said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “Her addition boosts our ability to fully serve private equity clients in France and strengthens our existing top-tier European platform.”

The Kirkland Paris office opened in 2019 to serve clients doing business in France and throughout Europe. The Paris team brings vast experience in handling French law private equity transactions and has advised on complex mergers, acquisitions and investments for financial sponsors, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Recent transactions include advising Stirling Square on its sale of Siblu Villages to Naxicap; Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division on its acquisition of B&B Hotels; Apollo on the IPO of Verallia; and Searchlight Capital on its tender offer on Latécoère, among others.

“Nadine’s knowledge of the complex tax landscape in France is first class and I’m delighted that she has joined our growing team. Since we opened the Paris office we have gone from strength to strength, and we look forward to continued success here and with our leading teams in London, Munich and globally,” said Vincent Ponsonnaille, a partner in Kirkland’s Paris and London offices.
Ms. Gelli joins Kirkland from De Pardieu Brocas Maffei where she was a partner. Previously, she spent 14 years at Ashurst LLP where she headed its tax practice. She holds an advanced degree (DEA) in comparative law from the University of Paris, Pantheon-Sorbonne, and an advanced degree (DESS) in international tax from the University of Paris-Sceaux.

Kirkland serves more than 450 private equity clients around the globe and consistently ranks at the top among legal advisers to private equity buyouts in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. The Firm ranked first for European private equity buyouts and exits by value in full year 2019, according to mergermarket.
