Kirkland & Ellis Adds Prominent SEC Enforcement Defense Attorney Nader Salehi to Investigations Team

Kirkland & Ellis is excited to announce that Nader Salehi, one of the nation’s top securities enforcement defense attorneys, has joined the Firm as a partner in the Government, Regulatory & Internal Investigations Practice Group in the Washington, D.C., office.

Mr. Salehi represents investment banks, asset managers and public companies in high-profile, bet-the-company matters. He has experience on a broad range of issues including internal investigations, investigations involving whistle-blower complaints, and investigations prompted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and other Self Regulatory Organizations (SROs) and federal and state regulators.

“We’re proud that Kirkland continues to be a very attractive firm for the most talented and successful lawyers, such as Nader,” said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Executive Committee. “Nader’s passionate pursuit of success for his clients and his team-oriented approach make him an ideal fit for Kirkland.”

Mr. Salehi commented, “Kirkland is known for working on the most complex and sophisticated matters for the most discriminating clients. I was drawn to the Firm’s unique platform, its collaborative culture and its commitment to excellence. I believe there is an exciting opportunity for me to take my practice to new heights at Kirkland and I look forward to working with Mark Filip, Asheesh Goel, and my friend and former colleague Reg Brown, as well as the rest of this stellar team.”

Mr. Salehi has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leading lawyer in the areas of securities, regulation, and enforcement. He began his career in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement and joins Kirkland from another prominent law firm, where he was co-head of the securities enforcement practice.

The addition of Mr. Salehi builds on the momentum of Kirkland’s Government, Regulatory & Internal Investigations Group. He joins a renowned bipartisan team that comprises former officials from the U.S. Department of Justice, the SEC, the U.K. Serious Fraud Office, House and Senate Subcommittees, and the White House.

“Clients turn to Kirkland when the stakes are highest – whether it be a public crisis or a major enforcement action. Nader’s unmatched experience in SEC enforcement, leading sensitive and mission-critical investigations for top banks, financial firms and boards, is a perfect complement to this team’s robust roster of talent,” said Mark Filip, a member of Kirkland’s Executive Committee who leads the Firm’s Government, Regulatory and Internal Investigations Group.
