Kirkland Adds Investment Funds Partner Aleksander Bakic in London

Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that Aleksander Bakic has joined the Firm as a partner in the Investment Funds Group in the London office.

“Aleks is a recognised leader in the European secondaries market and his addition will further strengthen our client offering in Europe and globally,” said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Bakic has extensive experience advising fund sponsors across multiple alternative asset classes (including private equity, infrastructure, real estate and energy) and is a leading practitioner in the secondary space focusing on GP-led fund restructurings and other fund liquidity transactions.

“We are thrilled Aleks has joined us,” said London-based investment funds partner Christopher Braunack. “He brings material incremental senior bandwidth to our European secondaries practice at a time when increasing numbers of our fund sponsor clients are, with increasing frequency, utilising the secondaries market to provide liquidity solutions for their underlying investment funds.”

Mr. Bakic joins Kirkland from the London office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.

Kirkland’s European investment funds practice has over 25 partners and advises many of Europe’s preeminent investment fund sponsors with respect to their fundraisings, ongoing fund-related matters (including liquidity solutions) and sponsor strategic transactions. The practice is a market leader in each of its core focuses — private equity, credit, real assets and liquidity solutions — and was awarded Private Equity International 2020 Law Firm of the Year for both Fund Formation and Secondaries in Europe and Private Equity Real Estate 2020 Law Firm of the Year for Fund Formation in Europe.
