Kirkland’s Litigation Growth Continues with Addition of Trial Lawyer Aaron Katz

Kirkland & Ellis announced today that first-chair trial lawyer Aaron Katz will join the Firm as a litigation partner.

“We continue to invest in and grow our premier litigation practice, which has always been one of Kirkland’s core strengths, and we’re quite excited to welcome another litigator of Aaron’s caliber. He’s a terrific addition to the team,” said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Katz advises publicly traded Fortune 500 companies, privately held businesses, private equity investors, corporate directors and officers, executives, employees, and entrepreneurs in a broad range of corporate disputes, including False Claims Act matters. An accomplished trial lawyer, he has tried 14 cases (12 to verdict), including eight since September 2020. In addition to his work on high-profile federal jury trials, he has successfully represented clients in complex, high-stakes litigation and investigations across the pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare, technology, commercial real estate, securities, commodities, entertainment, sports gaming and consumer products sectors.

“Aaron is a highly respected litigator and strategic adviser with deep trial experience,” said Andrew Kassof, a member of Kirkland’s Executive Committee. “Beyond his exceptional legal skills, Aaron brings the collaborative, entrepreneurial approach we look for as we continue to add talent across geographies.”

Mr. Katz is recognized as a top litigator by Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation, Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers. He joins Kirkland from Aaron Katz Law LLC, which he founded in 2022, following an 18-year career at Ropes & Gray LLP.

“Kirkland has built an unmatched trial practice and established itself as the premier destination for high-stakes litigation,” said Mr. Katz. “The opportunity to join Kirkland’s litigation platform and work alongside so many outstanding lawyers I know and respect was incredibly compelling. I look forward to contributing to the Firm’s continued success.”
