The Deal Awards 2018

The Deal honored Kirkland & Ellis and three of its partners with five awards — the most awards received by any law firm — at The Deal Awards.

Kirkland was named “Cross-Border Law Firm of the Year,” and was recognized for its work advising Energy Future Holdings Corporation (EFH) on its sale to Sempra Energy, including EFH's approximate 80 percent indirect ownership interest in Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, which won “Deal of the Year.” 

Kirkland corporate partner David Fox was honored with a “M&A Lifetime Achievement” award. Corporate partner Andrew Calder was named “Lawyer of the Year: Energy & Services, Power, Utilities Dealmakers” and restructuring partner Joshua Sussberg was recognized as “Lawyer of the Year: Consumer/Retail Dealmakers.”

The inaugural awards program hosted by The Deal recognizes the advisors and service providers who power the deal economy. Honorees were selected based on peer nominations and interviews with analysts and experts.
