Overview

Dr. Christophe Michoud is a scientific advisor with Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Dr. Michoud is a USPTO registered Patent Agent and holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Ohio State University plus an engineering degree from one of France “Grandes Ecoles”. His Ph.D. research focused on a class of natural alkaloids (the Strychnos alkaloids) for which he developed novel synthetic routes. Prior to joining our firm, Dr. Michoud worked for Roche as a medicinal chemist in Nutley, NJ. His experience in drug discovery is extensive, particularly in the area of kinase inhibitors for oncology and inflammation. He has led several medicinal chemistry teams that successfully delivered proprietary clinical candidates into advanced in vivo studies for the treatment of cancer, COPD and asthma. At Roche, he also devised patent strategies for multiple projects in oncology and in inflammation, and assisted the patent attorneys in developing arguments to advance prosecution. Dr. Michoud has published numerous medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis papers in peer reviewed journals. He is a co-inventor on more than 15 issued patents and patent applications. Since joining Kirkland & Ellis in 2013, Dr. Michoud has been involved in supporting ANDA actions for multiple brand name products, and has provided scientific support on multiple due diligence projects.
