I find the relationships and friendships I’ve built to be one of the most fulfilling parts about working at Kirkland.

Culture

To me, Kirkland’s culture is a combination of collaboration — both within my practice group and across other groups and offices; a sense of entrepreneurship that brings in cutting-edge matters and enables associates to direct their careers; and providing high-quality work for our clients.

The people and the work keep me at Kirkland. I enjoy working closely with the partners and my fellow associates in the Energy Regulatory Practice Group and with attorneys in other groups and offices. I’ve had the opportunity to work on incredible matters across the energy sector, from oil and gas and conventional generation to renewable generation and data centers.

Experience

In the past couple of years, there has been a significant increase in data center work. The power supply arrangements for data centers are critical and are governed by overlapping layers of state and federal regulation. I’ve worked on a variety of data center matters for locations across the United States, both front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter. Some of these matters have larger teams, while others have very small teams. Particularly on these smaller matters, I’ve received early experience working directly with clients.

I’ve also worked on significant M&A deals across different commodities. Power M&A deals often require prior approval from, and other filings with, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which gave me early experience drafting and filing pleadings with FERC.

Summer Associate Program

During my 2L summer, I was part of the Corporate Practice Group in Kirkland’s Dallas office. I had great experiences working in the different corporate groups and building relationships with the attorneys and my fellow summer associates. After my summer, I decided to join Kirkland for two main reasons: the people and the quality of work. I find the relationships and friendships I’ve built to be one of the most fulfilling parts about working at Kirkland.
