Client Call: Treasury Issues Final CFIUS Regulations: What's In, What's Out and What's Next
On January 13, 2020, the Department of the Treasury issued final regulations to implement the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA). Passed in 2018 with broad bipartisan support, FIRRMA is the most significant reform of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) in its history. The final regulations, which will take effect in just a few weeks, are poised to have substantial impacts on private equity sponsors and companies.
On January 22nd Mario Mancuso, P.C., Shawn Cooley and Luci Hague had an interactive discussion of the new regulations, their policy drivers, and their anticipated impacts on cross-border dealmaking.
