Cross-Border Real Estate Investment in Europe
The European Forum of the International Bar Association, along with a number of the committees of the Corporate, Finance, Insolvency, Real Estate and Tax Sections, have organized the "Cross-Border Real Estate Investment in Europe," which will take place in Copenhagen on September 17-19, 2008. This conference will cover investment issues specific to Europe including the challenges of investing in hotels, EU jurisdictions that give the most tax efficient exit from the EU, and legal and technical issues for a Pan-European portfolio.
Kirkland Partner Stephen Tomlinson is scheduled to speak at the workshop titled "Real Estate Funds in Difficult Market Conditions." This session will focus on redemption procedures in open-ended funds; debt financing; the role of the liquidator; insolvency procedures; and the issue of a promoter change.
