Annah Akhoun-Murat is an associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She is a member of the Firm’s Sustainability Practice Group, which advises some of the world’s most sophisticated and dynamic private equity firms, corporations and project sponsors on complex and evolving legal issues relating to sustainability, including climate-related regulatory requirements and risk management, investor demands, strategic opportunities, and voluntary reporting frameworks and coalitions.
Annah counsels sponsors on responsible investment and sustainability in the context of fund formation and fundraising, and also provides guidance on their sustainability-related policies, mandatory and voluntary reporting and external frameworks. These include the UN Principles for Responsible Investment and GRESB. She also provides guidance on the latest market, regulatory and litigation developments, including the California climate disclosure rules and California Voluntary Carbon Market Disclosures.
Annah’s practice also focuses on material sustainability considerations in the asset management transaction industry, from regulatory compliance, investor commitments and sustainability programing and reporting. She advises across the “sell-side” and “buy-side” from the largest alternative asset management firms to mid-size fund managers in asset management transactions (including control, strategic minority and “GP Stake” transactions).
Prior to dedicating her practice to sustainability, Annah worked on multiple cross-border regulatory investigations and uses her international experience from living in France, Switzerland, South Korea, China and the United Kingdom to advise on region-specific risk management topics.
