Kirkland Advises Malala Yousafzai and Asser Malik on Launch of Recess Capital

Kirkland & Ellis represented Nobel Peace Prize laureate and education activist Malala Yousafzai and her husband Asser Malik, a seasoned sports management professional, on the founding and launch of Recess Capital, a sports investment platform with a particular focus on women’s sports. Recess is the latest initiative for Malala and Asser driven by their belief in the power of sports to unlock opportunities to promote equity and representation through investment. Kirkland has advised Recess on all aspects of the launch from business strategy and positioning, structuring and terms, multi-jurisdictional licensing and regulatory considerations, employment arrangements, sustainability considerations, IP/trademark, the Recess website and publicity and press considerations.
